Scarborough, ME – Philip F. Henderson, 75, of Gorham, was a military veteran who enjoyed a career in truck driving died on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Maine Veterans’ Home. He was the husband of Lorraine E. (Harmon) Henderson.
Philip was born on November 30, 1939 in Portland, ME a son of the late Clarence and Susanna (Coffee) Henderson. He was a longtime resident of Portland and a devoted husband of 49 years and a loving Father of seven children. He served four years in the US Navy on the USS Saratoga and enjoyed traveling around the world.
Mr. Henderson was a “jack-of-all-trades” and was dedicated to remodeling both the interior and exterior of his old historic home on the west end in Portland. He enjoyed landscaping and gardening as well as raising his Dashunds. He spent hours viewing historical documentaries, and sharing commentary on them with others. However his greatest passion was spending time with his family.
He is survived three daughters Belinda Emery of Windham, Cindy Chase of Windham and Laura Pellerin of Gorham. He is also survived by three sons David Hamilton of Connecticut, Mark Henderson of Portland and William Henderson of Waterboro. He also leaves a brother Richard Henderson of Cumberland and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held for the family at the home of James and Laura Pellerin in Gorham at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015. Burial is planned for Blanchard Cemetery in Falmouth, ME at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2015
