Auburn ME- Esther M Adams of Auburn passed away from a long illness Friday January 16, 2015 at the Hospice Center in Auburn after residing at the Marshwood Living Center in Lewiston. She was 90 years old born on June 20, 1924; she was a lifelong resident of Auburn. After marrying Kenneth N Adams of Auburn they lived on Sunset Ave and later moved to Adams Ave. She was a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Company early in her career; she also worked for CMMC and Bates College.
Esther dressed like a movie star and was very attractive and had to have her hair done weekly by her long time hairdresser Lynn. She and her husband used to love to entertain with their parties on Saturday evenings and to dine out with her many friends. She loved to travel to Florida in the winter where she worked in Pompano Beach at the Hillsboro Club and visited her parents in Hollywood Florida.
She loved her cat Missy and they were constant companions for each other. While she was in Florida she looked forward to visits with her grandson Kenneth; they loved going out to eat and enjoy a good lobster by the ocean and enjoyed spending time at the beach and basking in the sunshine.
She is survived by her three children; Gary of Auburn, Mary Ellen of Lewiston and Bruce of Poland Springs Maine, her three grandchildren Kenneth, Amy and Tobie, daughter-in-laws Pamela W Adams, Judith Adams and son-in-law Guy Lavalliere. She also leaves one sister Betty Bibber of Brunswick Maine. She was predeceased by her Parents Alton and Mae McFadden of Auburn and her husband Kenneth.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Wednesday January 21, 2015 at The United Methodist Church on 439 Park Ave Auburn. Service will be at 1pm. A private burial will be held at a later date.
