Lelia V. Batten

Lewiston- Lelia Violet Batten, 60, of Lewiston, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 19, 2014 in her home. 

Lelia was born a daughter of the late Gerald Leroy and Oresta (Haines) Batten, on May 3, 1954 in Caribou, ME.    She attended local Caribou school, graduating from Caribou High School, and then went on to graduate from Faith School of Theology, in Charleston, ME.  

After School, Lelia went to work at Ames Department Store.  She then went on to take care of disabled people for several years until becoming disabled herself.  

Lelia was an active member of the Lewiston United Methodist Church.  In her free time, she enjoyed writing and calligraphy; she also loved her cats. 

She is survived by her identical twin Laura Shattack of Lewiston; two brothers, Rev. George Batten and his wife Patti of Fairmont, WV; and Timothy Batten and his wife Susan of Las Vegas, NV as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial Service on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 4 p.m. at the Lewiston United Methodist Church, 59 Sabattus St, Lewiston, ME.
