Born in Greenfield on September 20, 1932 she was the only child of William and Frieda (Anderer) Striegel. Carolyn attended the Greenfield Public Schools and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1950. She was a devoted mother and homemaker to her four children and returned to work after her youngest started school in 1974. She worked at Greenfield Community College in the College Store and retired in the late 1990s.
She loved to swim and enjoyed being near the water whether it was Laurel Lake, Drakes Island Maine, the YMCA or her own backyard pool. Fiercely proud of her German heritage a trip to Germany in 1978 with her mother, Frieda and her daughter, Karen was a highlight, finally visiting her mother’s village and meeting her many aunts, uncles and cousins she had heard of all her life.
