Portland, ME – Matthew M. York Jr., 29, of Portland died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 25, 2014.
Matt was born on May 13, 1985 in Portland the only son of Matthew M. and Linda J. (Trott) York Sr. also of Portland. He grew up a “Munjoy Hill Brat” and graduated in the top 10% of his class from Portland High School in 2003. While in High School, he was a member of the honors society as well as the future businessmen of America. Matt was working towards his Bachelor’s degree in Business through the University of Maine.
He greatly enjoyed working with his uncle, who owns Dirty Deeds in Portland and he also worked a second job at Seven Eleven in Portland.
Matt loved fast cars, and could always be found watching races with his Grandfather, during racing season. He was also an enormous Indianapolis Colts fans. He was described by his Father “He was a ray of light! When he walked into a room he just lite it up!” Matt will be remembered for his infectious smile and positive attitude; he would give you the shirt off his back and expect nothing in return.
Besides his parents, Matt is survived by his maternal grandfather, Waldo Trott of Portland and his sister Meagan York and her fiancé Richard Wilcox of Auburn. He also leaves his nephew Zachary Wilcox, his niece Jasmine Trott and a special little boy Camden Rowe as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and many good friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Church of God, Park Avenue, Portland. A funeral Service will follow at 1 p.m. at the Church.
A private burial will be held in Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland. ME
